Buying a new laptop?

Are you looking to buy a new laptop but not sure which one would be suitable for you? We at SJH Computing have a handy guide to help you purchase the right laptop for you.

1. Hardware Specifications. When it comes to buying your new laptop, make sure it has at least 4GB of RAM. You can get away with 2GB but you may notice it struggle and slow down when you'e got a lot of programs open or trying to process large amounts of data. Most modern hard drives and processors should be able to cope with almost anything you throw at them.
2. The feel of the laptop. If possible try out the laptop you're looking at buying. Go into a store and check to see if the laptop feels right to you. Ask yourself; does the keyboard feel comfortable to use, is it too heavy to keep carrying about, is the screen clear and easy to read?
3. Set yourself a budget and stick to it. Remember you may get the same laptop cheaper online so it's worth shopping around.
4. Software. You may have to buy additional software for your laptop, but always remember there are always free alternatives online.

And finally, take your time. Don't get pushed into buying a laptop that you don't feel comfortable with or one that's out of your price range. If you do want some advice, you can always contact us and we will be happy to help.
