Why you should move from Windows Live Mail

Windows Live Mail is an email program introduced by Microsoft to replace Outlook Express, it’s a lightweight email client perfect for home users. Unfortunately, Windows Live Mail has been discontinued by Microsoft and no longer supported.

While Windows Live Mail will carry on working, we are seeing a lot more issues and error messages as email providers lock down and secure their email servers. While these error messages can be fixed, it often requires settings to be changed leaving your email account less secure and vulnerable. This isn’t ideal, especially in today’s online world.

Switching clients

There are several email clients available that will work perfectly fine; our personal favourites are Outlook and eM Client. Outlook is available with certain versions of Microsoft Office or as a standalone product. eM Client has got a free version, which is suitable for most people, or a paid version which gives you more features than the free version.

Switching from Windows Live Mail to either Outlook or eM Client is relatively painless, however, you do need to know a few things beforehand. For instance, you will need to know your email username/password and server settings. You will also need to import your existing emails from Windows Live Mail to either Outlook or eM Client, however there are guides and migration wizards available in both email clients.
